Predictions on Where Will Carmelo Anthony Be Traded to

What can I say about Carmelo Anthony, a strong forward for the New York Knicks. With his no-trade clause in place, there’s no telling where he could end up. If the Knicks didn’t offer Carmelo a no-trade clause as part of their bargain to keep him from signing with the Bulls, they wouldn’t be in the situation they are in now with trying to get him traded. There are a lot of possible options of where Carmelo Anthony can be traded to, but let’s focus on the top five teams that are up for nomination.

Top Five Teams Carmelo Anthony Could Be Traded To

The fifth least likely team Carmelo Anthony could end up playing for, would be with the Boston Celtics. Indeed its a wild card, but if you think about it, being that he’s a star scorer he would take some of the pressure off of Isaiah Thomas. Now here’s an even sweeter deal, Boston could trade off Jae Crowder, Amir Johnson, and Jonas Jerebko, in exchange for Carmelo and Kyle O’Quinn. That way Phil can rid himself of a mistake which in the end would work from a financial standpoint. Even though this is the least likely option, the Celtics may end up being his last resort with the deadline coming up on the 23rd of February.

The fourth team next in line as a possibility is, The Cleveland Cavaliers. Its been mentioned that if Carmelo were to waive his no-trade clause, the Cavaliers would be a team that his would consider doing that for. There is already a deal being proposed, that if they were to trade Anthony they would get Kevin Love in return, but that deal was shot down. That’s not going to stop the Knicks from coming up with a deal that they can’t refuse.

Cleveland would be beneficial in the long run for everybody because, not only will Carmelo consider waiving his no-trade clause, but Cleveland can afford to pay the price of his hefty contract. This will give Anthony the opportunity to win his first ring and play for a team that’s already reigning on top the Eastern standings.  The Cavs would definitely be one of the favorites to win the Finals with him on the roster.  Everyone wants to see Carmelo and LeBron team up and win a championship, its going to take a lot of negotiating in order for that to work, seeing the February 23rd deadline is drawing near.

The third team next on the list as a potential candidate would be the Los Angeles Clippers. This being said, Phil is trying to make this option stick if not stand out. He’s willing to trade Carmelo for practically nothing, without getting a trade in return. We all know that, that would not be a smart decision, so rumor has it that Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers are up for grabs. Assuming that this deal goes through there are other choices to consider let’s take a look at the next team in line.

The second team in the ranking are the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors and the Celtics are the two teams that would need to make a difference in their lineup, by negotiating a trade with the Knicks for Carmelo. Paul Millsap is a candidate to trade with, but if that isn’t on the table, the Raptors need to make the pot sweeter, by putting up Demarre Carroll, Patrick Patterson, Jakob Poeltl, and a future first round pick. Although Anthony wouldn’t improve their 16th rank defense, this would give the Raptors an oppotunity to challenge the Cavs, who currently reign over in the East.

The last and final team that Carmelo Anthony could be traded to is the New York Knicks. Now even though this is not an actual trade this may be where he end up after all is said and done. The deadline looms ahead and only a select few will accept his no-trade clause and pricey contract but in the end this is where Carmelo Anthony wants to be. His family is in New York, and I don’t think the idea of uprooting them to another state is something he will agree too.

When its all said and done I don’t think his wife would have relocated anywhere out of the state of New York. That’s the whole reason the no-trade clause was implemented in the first place he didn’t want to be traded to a team that would move him away from his family. Regardless of where he ends up, be it Los Angeles, Boston, or stays with the Knicks he will have the final say with his no-trade clause in place.

NBA Teams that Should Tank For the Rest of the 2016-17 Season

The National Basketball Association’s 2016-2017 season has just begun but we are already beginning to see which teams are good and which teams are just downright horrible. Fans are seeing the Los Angeles Clippers, Warriors and the Spurs blossoming. The Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Dallas Mavericks are collapsing, which the fans are clearly aware of.

Less than half of NBA teams have a winning record. Numerous teams have been plagued with injuries early in the season. Others are developing chemistry with their new additions. Some teams have fallen and have no possible way of ending up with a winning season.

1. Washington Wizards
It’s been seven years since the Washington Wizards selected John Wall as their No. 1 overall pick and have nothing to show for it. The Wizards have only appeared in the playoffs with Wall twice and ended last season 41-41, forcing Randy Wittman out as coach. The Wizards boasted having the greatest best center in the NBA with Marcin Gortat. The Wizards are currently 4-9, with no hope in sight. The Washington Wizards do not have enough talent to make them a top tier team.

2. Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings have failed to make the playoffs in 10 years. Since the last time they made the playoffs in 2006, the Kings have had nine head coaches. The Kings roster keeps changing every year but fails to hook a star player. The Kings are one better than the Wizards and stand 5-9 this season. The Kings need to try building from the ground up. The King’s recent signings including Willie Cauley-Stein, Georgios Papagiannis have become busts.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder
While the OKC Thunder have a winning record, they lack a leader in the locker room. Russell Westbrook is putting up good numbers and has become one of the best players in the NBA. OKC Thunder currently sit 6th in the Western Conference and have won four of their last ten games. The Thunder have talented shooters and rebounders but can’t seem to win games when they matter the most. Tank now and then find a player who can put points on the board in bunches.

4. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have lost their top tier players, Dwayne Wade joined the Chicago Bulls during the offseason, Chris Bosh’s Heat career is coming to a close. Miami’s “Big Three” legacy is over. The stars have come and gone, the only option that remains is for the Heat to tank now and rebuild if they want to get back to their winning ways.

5. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers currently stand at 7-7 with the same team that finished with a losing record last season. The Lakers had to say good bye to Kobe Bryant and are working to improve current players D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle. The Lakers need to stockpile talent to win the long-game. With another star talent added, the Lakers can begin to fight for a higher playoff seed.

NBA Playoff Predictions

While I love my AMCR Cobras, I also keep pretty close tabs on what is going on in the NBA.  This season is shaping up to be one of the best ever. I figured I’d do my best to look over the remaining teams and offer some NBA free picks on what happens from here on out.

Last night the Oklahoma City Thunder finished off the San Antonio Spurs. It was a great season for the Spurs, they ended the regular season with a 40-1 record at home and 67 wins overall.  But, the star power of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were too much for them to handle.

Now the Thunder have to take on Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.  The Warriors are coming off the best regular season in NBA history and have looked solid to start the postseason as well.  Is Curry completely healthy?  If he is then it doesn’t look like anyone can stop them, but I do think Oklahoma City is a team that can give them trouble.

Everyone right now is dead set on Golden State being the favorites, but I think an upset could be brewing.  Don’t be surprised if OKC takes them to six or seven games.

In the East it’s been an incredible start for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  They haven’t lost a game in the first two rounds and are still sitting around waiting to see if they will play the Toronto Raptors or the Miami Heat.  The thing is…it’s not going to matter.  LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love are in sync.  Head coach Tyronne Lue has done a phenomenal job since taking over mid-season.

I think the Cleveland Cavaliers will win in four or five games, setting up a rematch of last year’s Finals against the Warriors.

Do you remember how Golden State won handily last year?  I bet that’s what most people remember.  But, how about this.  Last season there was no Kevin Love.  He went down with a shoulder injury in the Boston series and missed the series.  For all intensive purposes, Cleveland didn’t have Irving either.

Basically LeBron was left with a ragtag group of misfits and he managed to win a few games against the Warriors.  Don’t expect things to be so easy for Golden State this year with his team at full strength.  If you like futures bets, Cleveland is hard not to like right now.  They are playing well and are healthy this season.  Plus, I think Lue has an advantage over Blatt when it comes to coaching his team in playoff situations.

Pete Campbell has been named the new head coach of the AMCR Cobras.  Campbell was a graduate of Virginia University.  He is the seventh head coach in team history after spending the last couple of years as the assistant head coach.

“We are pleased that Campbell accepted our offer to coach the team, ” Cobras general manager Ted Scott said.  “As shown last year, he’s been able to develop some of our young players while upholding our team philosophy.  We think he is a terrific fit to continue our legacy and restore the Cobras back to their winning ways.”

Personally I am confident that he is the right person to continue our excellent basketball tradition in Costa Rica.  He has put himself into a position to succeed by studying as an assistant the last couple of years.  I think he’s in a great position to return this team to glory.

Before coming to the Cobras two years ago, Campbell was an assistant coach of the Bogota Bullets in Colombia.  He helped them for three seasons, guiding several players to All League honors.

Before that he was a graduate assistant at Morehead State, and an unpaid volunteer coach at Weber State.

Campbell graduated from Virginia back in 2000.  He did not have a distinguished college career but learned the ropes as a Cavalier.  He majored in political science but knew all along that his heart was in coaching.

Campbell comes from a basketball family.  His father was the head coach at Central Arkansas.  His brother Chris is the assistant head coach at Texas Southern  while his other brother Steve is a high school basketball coach in Illinois.  It’s fair to say that coaching basketball is a family business.

If you are getting as excited as I am about the upcoming Cobras season sign up for your season tickets now.  It’s going to be a solid 60 game season and I’m hoping for another return trip the playoffs.  With Campbell manning the bench then I’m confident we will be a contender.
